Finding the Right Sofa

Posted on June 30th, 2009 by Toms Price Home.

Toms-Price upholstery can be broken down into three broad categories: premium, good quality, and budget.

Our premium sofas are priced from around $2000 and up. These sofas are made with the top materials for durability, even support and comfort. They also have the finest fabric and tailoring details.

Mid-price, good quality sofas range from $1300 to $2000 and are also very well-constructed but may not have the same attention to finishing with high grade fabrics, lined and mitered skirts, or intricate pattern matching.

For less expensive upholstery you can find budget sofas priced from around $800 to $1500 at the Toms-Price Outlet — depending on the ever changing inventory. Some of these are premium and good quality sofas which have been marked down, others may use a different method of “springing up” the seats than traditional 8-way hand knotted construction. Any of the alternative pre-engineered spring systems we have at our Outlet are chosen because they are quite good.

Ross raises a good point about the importance of choosing fabrics which I address in the July 7th post. At Toms-Price we have thousands of fabrics, the greatest group being traditional to transitional with modern capping one end and super traditional on the other.

Custom fabrics we carry are from Kravet, Robert Allen, Duralee, Schumacher and Waverly. Of course any COM fabric (customer's own material) my be used when special ordering you sofa.
