Sight Lines

Posted on August 9th, 2007 by Toms Price Home.

Every space has a point of entry, a perspective from which it will most often be viewed. Like the vanishing point in perspective drawings, sight lines draw the eye to the back of the space, the end of the road. Figuring out where those are and how to use them to draw the viewer further into the picture lays the foundation for a successful project. Can your eye resist the gentle alteration of light and dark leading up to the startling tree portrait on the far wall of this space by Hickory Chair?

This picture is an amazing room that I love. Seems like it would take a lot of work to keep it looking like that – but probably worth it.
