Out on the Illinois prairie the luscious berries are ripening. It’s that point in summer when vines leap and branches droop, heavy with fruit. I ride my bike along the Prairie Path through Glen Ellyn and Wheaton and mulberries squish in purple splotches underneath my tires. It’s worth it to stop and pick a few to eat.
