Reinvent – The Frustration Is Worth It

Posted on June 2nd, 2010 by Toms Price Home.

Ever had a dropped call and futilely fumed while you hit redial over and over? Why does technology have to be so temperamental? Why can’t it just work, for crying out loud?
Do people get just as frustrated with their living spaces and wonder why design has to be such a mystery? Can’t there just be a simple formula to follow? Why does it have to be so complicated?
The resident techie in my house is not afraid to break a few electronic eggs to solve a network problem or build a new system. I, of course, am constantly tweaking the furniture arrangement or plants in the garden. Disruptive? Messy? Yes, but if we aren’t willing to reinvent, everything stands still. Rotary phones or harvest gold appliances might still be with us.

Darryl Carter’s new book is called The New Traditional: Reinvent – Balance – Define Your Home. He has a brilliant thing, or two, to tell us about reinventing.
