I Married A Techie

My husband is a techie, which means my decorating challenges started on day one. When we were first married his most precious possessions were his stereo components — the receiver, the reel-to-reel tape player, the speakers the size of small refrigerators. Now we have a small, neat unit that mounts on the wall. These days, not only does he spend 8 – 10 hours a day in front of computer screens; in our home we have two desktop computers, four laptops, at least two servers and any number of blinking, buzzing parts and pieces whose purpose is utterly mysterious to me. And he spends the majority of his time texting and scrolling through email on his little blackberry.
I figure if I wait long enough, the spaghetti bowl of cables and wires might reduce itself down to a tidy, neat unit like the stereo did. People talk about the world catching up to technology. The reality is, technology needs to catch up to decorating. Work on it, techies.
