2009 is likely to bring some changes in the stores. Oh, the Valentine candy display has already banished the chocolate Santas from the shelves, and spring bathing suits are sure to follow; but there’s a prevailing sense of moderation and caution that mirrors temperament of the public at large. It’s something fashion and merchandising have not seen in a long, long time.
It will be interesting to watch the effect these adjusted attitudes have on new products and trends. What colors best express this new-found sensibility? What kinds of patterns and textures?
