Let lighting take your space to great heights!

Posted on June 19th, 2020 by Toms Price Home.

Many customers when furniture shopping feel that lighting is not a primary concern or that it is out of their element. While so many options can be overwhelming, I recommend consulting with your interior designer and rely on their expertise for lighting recommendations. I have worked in lighting showrooms and understand how just the right lighting can enhance your space in ways you never thought possible.

Decorative lighting is the jewelry that adorns your space and allows your personality to come to life! For example, if you have neutral furnishings, the right lighting can be the WOW factor in your space. If you do not have consistent appropriate lighting, the colors in the room will not look as rich and as bright. Resist the temptation to have many little things in your space, such as multiple pendant lights over a kitchen island. Fewer pendants which are larger in scale will provide dramatic impact. The right decorative lighting gives your home a curated look.

For design presentations, I group images of the proposed furniture pieces along with rugs, accessories, and lighting. This offers the best way to see how everything is related to one another. I find it easiest to show my clients a digital presentation and give them a print off to take home and review. My presentation starts with a mood board or inspiration followed by a floor plan and ends with a collage of the proposed pieces. This really helps my clients visualize how everything will translate into their home.
