Intriguing words that represent animal dwellings relate well to our homes: the “den”, the “lodge” and the “cave” – homes of the lion, the beaver and the bear, respectively. What they all share is a sense of warmth and protection; a temporary place to get away in a rustic haven. They are primal, earthy spaces, rather than highly cultured ones.
Mission fits so well in a lodge setting, being reminiscent of the Teddy Roosevelt era. There is a traveling Gustav Stickley furniture exhibit that would be amazing to catch if you are going to be in Dallas or San Diego at the right times. The exhibit travels to the Dallas Museum of Art beginning Feb. 13 through May 8, 2011, then it goes to The San Diego Museum of Art from June 18 to September 11, 2011.
