Choosing a Wood Finish

Posted on July 10th, 2009 by Toms Price Home.

Choosing the right sofa means thinking about the finish you want on the legs or any other exposed wood parts. The days of matching exactly to the other wood pieces in a room are over. Now the more popular idea is to choose what you like, even though it may vary from your other pieces, while still being mindful of the whole effect. This creates a more collected look which adds interest and warmth to the room.

When ordering custom furniture, what immediately springs to mind for most people is upholstery. But a custom choice of a finish on wood furniture can also make a world of difference, just the way a fabric choice does on an upholstered piece.

Many furniture manufacturers now have colorful finishes for wood furniture as well as a nice range of natural wood tones. Stickley’s Special Accents Program has interesting new wood and painted finishes to go with their exposed wood accent chairs (shown above). They look so fresh!
