When I met my husband he was wearing a tux. It definitely commanded my attention and started a conversation. The same can be true of a black accent in a room. When I painted all the doors in my house black, people noticed — how could they not. By its very contrast the effect was to sharpen perception.
I’ve been seeing a lot of great furniture in black. The room above has a lot of punch because of the contrast… and what a great breakfront china or bookcase.
