Ever wonder about the way fashion runs through cycles? Now that I’ve reached an age to have gone through several cycles myself, it seems to me there is a definite ying/yang thing going on. Think about it — in the thirties we had frothy, floaty dresses, fringed lampshades and some very curvaceous car bumpers. The forties were all about square shoulders and tailored suits. Then in came the fifties with ruffled aprons, swoopy hats and long gloves, followed by the sixties with their sweater sets and pillbox hats a la Jackie Kennedy. And the seventies — well, who knows what happened in the seventies but you get the idea.
