\nThere’s a TV ad that shows dozens of people crammed in an auditorium, all reaching for their cell phones at the same time. Little “wireless” labels start to appear over their heads as they connect their calls, illustrating how dependent we’ve become on our invisible connections.<\/p>\n

Most of us can remember when the idea of a phone not connected to a cord seemed positively space-age. Reaching behind cabinets and around corners to plug in the many lamps here in the store, I can’t wait for the same technology to reach the lighting industry. Just think, no ugly cords to hide or trip over, no dangerous outlets for toddlers and pets. No dislocated joints from trying to reach an outlet behind a sofa, just beyond arm’s length. Sounds like wishful thinking, and it is; but when computers can go from filling a room to fitting in your lap in just a few decades, I bet it will happen.<\/p>\n
