\nMost cushions come in this variety, with a foam core or “Marshall unit” — a coil spring encased in foam — with a layer of dacron fiber fill which springs back when crushed down. So attached cushions may actually work better on a sofa that gets minimal use, maybe for individuals who aren’t as apt to jump or leap into the sofa, even possibly tearing the attachments.
