\nTaking on large pieces of furniture is no small feat. They don’t like to move, and they want to bruise you when you try. Since moving things again and again will quickly drain your energy and your inspiration, you need a game plan. Think about balancing your room so that heavy pieces become a focal point. If you can, try floating upholstery in the space so that it doesn’t line up against the walls, like in this room by Toms-Price designer JoAnn Hunter.<\/a><\/span> If your room isn’t big enough for that, try placing the seating at an angle to create more interest.<\/p>\n

Of course, you may have to take some penalties. Moving furniture that’s been in the same spot for a long time usually means exposing accumulated dirt and dust; but if you also uncover a long-lost toy or a twenty dollar bill, you’ve gained a lot of points.
