Today’s Buzz Word: Unclutter<\/h3>\n

\u201cPeople like the uncluttered modern look with it\u2019s very simple lines,\u201d said Paula Baldoni, Design Consultant at Toms-Price in Old Orchard Center. Paula recently put together a stunning family room in an older house for a client living in Lake Balmoral, near Chicago\u2019s Andersonville neighborhood. The room features a contemporary look with the Hancock & Moore Sorenson sofa with two creamy-toned Elkins chairs by Vanguard<\/a>. She also customized the Charleston Forge Newhart Square cocktail<\/a> table size and finished the top in a darker wood stain. Interesting accent tables and a shag rug completed the room to make it modern and very livable.<\/p>\n

New modern designs from Stickley<\/h3>\n

Toms-Price designers love the sleek, streamlined look of modern furniture. They are like pieces of art and can make a statement all their own.<\/p>\n

Two favorite modern pieces from Stickley are the Flat Iron Chair<\/a> (shown above) with its open exposed wood arms. Susan Palinski<\/span><\/a>, Design Consultant at Toms-Price in Wheaton, has her modern favorites too. One of them is Stickley’s High Line Curved Gathering Island<\/a>. (Shown in our top photo.) This ingenious piece sits behind a sofa like a typical sofa table, but it’s bar height, allowing for chairs or stools underneath. It\u2019s great in a small apartment in place of a dining table or in a living room or family room for casual entertaining. Susan also loves\u00a0Saloom furniture “for it’s modern look and great quality and pricing.” \u00a0She recommends the Saloom glass-top, K-base table (shown below).<\/p>\n
